Our Story
Welcome to Belleville, a burgeoning artist quarter filled with a dizzying array of cultures in the heart of Paris. Belleville has always been a working class neighborhood, with immigration generation much of the area’s zest and ambiance. In the 1920’s, Greeks, Jews and Armenians flooded the neighborhood, which led to diasporas of North Africans, Sub-Saharan Africans, Southeast Asians and Far East Asians following in later decades. The cheap rents have allowed artist to live comfortably, as well, whom add another dimension to the area with their ateliers. Belleville is a true melting pot of cultures, and that is evident in the cuisine. Walking around Belleville, smells of curries mix with sharwma’s, maghrebian kabobs, and thai noodles in the air. We wanted to replicate the atmosphere of Belleville here in San Francisco. Belleville is a community oriented restaurant. Anything that we have no created in our kitchen has been supplied to us by other San Francisco local businesses. As an international, minority owned business, it is our utmost priority to support other minority owned businesses, and female owned businesses.
